The Art of Restraint: Knowing When to Stop

As artists, we’re often tempted to keep tweaking, to add just one more brushstroke, to perfect our craft. But the truth is, sometimes less is more. Today, I found myself falling into the trap of overpainting. Despite being satisfied with the final result, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I should’ve stopped sooner.

It’s a valuable lesson, one that I’m still learning. Knowing when to put down the brush, to step away from the canvas, and to let the viewer’s imagination take over – it’s a delicate balance. But it’s one that’s essential to creating art that truly resonates.
