Valentine’s Day… such a money gimmick, isn’t it?
One should give and receive love everyday, not when society tells you to. At least that’s my way of living.
In my house, there’s no buying jewellery or chocolates or expensive things on Valentine’s Day to show we care about each other. We laugh together everyday. We randomly write each other little love notes all the time. When we see something cool or feel like spoiling the other, we do it throughout the year, for no reason. Everyday, we remind ourselves how grateful we are to have each other.
I don’t need « stuff ».
But, my tradition for years now, has been to get a nice orchid or flower for my mom up there. It’s just a little gesture of peace and love to tell her I miss her. (Bonus is that I get to keep it!)
Maybe I will pick up the phone and call a few friends today to tell them I appreciate their friendship.
