What advice would you give to your teenage self?
I’ve answered this question on a previous blog, but since WordPress is prompting me, and I’m just sitting here relaxing, I thought I would have a go at it again even if I probably wouldn’t listen because I was / am so stubborn!
Dear teenage Janine,
Stop studying so much, and live in the moment- Go hang out with friends. Nobody will care if you have 100% on your math exam, and your friends won’t be free forever.
Open up to your mom about your feelings and concerns. Suppressing your sadness will only eat you up inside.
Speaking of her… Hug your mom more.
Absolutely nobody cares about your sweaty armpits and big feet. Worrying about it is a waste of time. (And don’t use that hardcore aluminum deodorant- society is trying to kill you).
Look at options other than university. It’s a money scam. You can be just as successful without it. Or …. think about getting a golf scholarship!
Oh… I’m glad you love sports more than dating guys! Love will come at a time when you’ll least expect it.
Be grateful to your parents. They do a lot for you.
Be kind and gentle with yourself.
You got this!
