Learning from experience and making changes

Describe one positive change you have made in your life.

Immediately after reading the question, I thought, oooh, this is a great prompt. So here I am.

But I can’t think of anything. It’s actually a hard question. Is it possible that I’ve always lived my true self, so never really had to change? Haha, that sounds so egotistical. Of course life is all about changes and lessons and growth.

Let me think….

Ok, the small stuff. At one point, I decided to make my bed every morning. I didn’t really use to care if I did or not before. But now I make sure I do. It’s an easy task, and starts off the day on the right foot. It’s already one accomplished task. Bravo me!

But here’s a bigger change. I have come to realize that certain relationships in my life have become unfulfilling. I have decided to prioritize my own emotional well-being and let go or worry less about the relationships that no longer serves me good. It’s a hard pill to swallow because I care about the people involved. But when i’m always making the effort, and the dynamics are unbalance, it takes a toll on my emotions and I just kept getting hurt or felt dissapointed.

So, it hasn’t been an easy change to implement, but it’s definitely taken off some stress of my shoulder and helped me let go of expectations.

Does this ring any bell to you on some of your relationships?
