Day 3 of drawing practice

As mentioned yesterday, I am doing the 31 days challenge again this January, but scaled down.

I decided to spend 15-30 minutes a day on practicing figurative gesture drawings.

I never sketch. I know I should- but I don’t. So I think this is a great commitment for myself and my art practice.

Here’s a few of today’s sketches. After a few of the figures, I felt my lines looked stiff compare to some gesture drawings I see online. So I found a short youtube course from S Michael Hampton. Interesting guy.

My take away from today was focusing on asymmetry instead of outlining contours- and with curvy lines.

I’m a self taught artist and have always just painted what I saw. So all this theory and practice is new to me. I’m like 🤯😳🥺😩

Haha but I’m trying to find patience in the process.

Can you tell which figures are before and during the short tutorial? 🙃
