Day 4- work in progress
Today marked Canada’s 1st National Ribbon Skirt Day to celebrate Indigenous traditions. It’s actually quite a story. This day was triggered by Isabella Kulak who wore her ribbon skirt at a school formal and was told by a school staff that her outfit wasn’t considered formal enough.
« We lift up all our relations who do what they can to raise awareness of our cultures, along with combating racism and discrimination. »
With the Mi’gmaq culture close to my heart, I wanted to create something in their honor. I usually paint from a picture- so creating something from scratch is always challenging for me.

This is a rough draft but I swear it’s a masterpiece in my mind 😆
