Stretching my canvas

Getting back to basics 🌟.
Stretching my own canvas.

Ripping out the old canvas

There’s something special about prepping a new canvas from scratch – or giving an old frame a new life- taking out the old canvas, cutting new pieces, stretching the fabric and priming the surface. It’s a moment to connect with the piece and let ideas start brewing.

Cutting new canvas. I had about 5 frames to cut.

🧘🏼‍♀️ 🎶 I love the premeditative process of getting ready to create – envisioning the colors, textures, and emotions I want to bring to life.
Or sometimes I’m just grateful for this chance to slow down and be present with the blank space. 💕

Putting frame together. I actually banged it too hard and a small piece broke off. I had to glue and dry before stretching 🤦‍♀️

I did run into a challenge. My big canvas roll was sitting with folds for a long time. It was impossible to take away those lines with just stretching. So I had to iron the material for a while but it all worked out at the end!

Some newly stretched canvas and still a few to repurpose

Next level would be to actually cut the wood and make my own frames. Maybe eventually.
