I’ll let you in on something: I didn’t draw most of that mural. A bunch of students did!
After having a few conversations, I thought I would share on here how it actually worked.
I designed the sketch ✍️ – with some of their ideas folded in. Then made a digital version, printed it small, like regular paper size small and I drew a grid on it.

Students drew the same grid, same scale, on the big boards. Then each of them got a square or two. Their job was to look at their little square on the paper and redraw it, bigger, on the board in front of them.

That’s it. No magic. Just a system that works – and over 30 grade 6, 7, and 8 students who showed up and did the work.
Square by square, kid by kid, it became something. 💕
And honestly? They did an amazing job! We tend to underestimate young people. Sometimes they just need a little encouragement and guidance.

And that’s what I did. I guided. I designed. I was there.
But those hands on the boards, mostly students! 🙌
